Steven W. Guyatt — O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Guyatt-Steven

Steven W. Guyatt, 73, of White Hall, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his home in White Hall, IL.

Steven was born February 25, 1951, in Kankakee, IL to Russell and Rozena (Edmundson) Guyatt.

Steven proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a fiber optics lineman, where he played a crucial role in installing fiber optics lines. His work not only showcased his technical skills but also his dedication to connecting people in an ever-evolving world of communication.

Survivors include his five children, Christopher Jones (Valerie) of Kyle, TX, Stephanie Brock of St. Charles, MO, Nelleke Barajas Hansen (Daniel) of St. Peters, MO, Steve Jones (Tasha) of Augusta, IL, and Bruce Guyatt (Tom) of Lansing, IL. Steven’s legacy continues through his twenty-five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. He is also survived by his four brothers, Richard Jones, Charles Jones, Nick Jones (Diane), and Donald Jones; and one sister, Karen Bailey (Jerry), along with many nieces and nephews who will miss his presence dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Christine.

An individual of eclectic tastes and interests, Steven was known for his appreciation for the finer things in life. A true movie buff, he had a particular fondness for Sci-Fi and Action films. His collection of watches, paintings, and cool cars were a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and style. Steven’s adventurous spirit was marked by his impressive tattoos, each with its own story and significance. A fervent sports enthusiast, Steven’s loyalty to Manchester United was unmatched, and he also cheered for the White Sox and Notre Dame football with equal vigor. His love for soccer was only matched by his love for travel, having visited every state in the U.S. except for Maine.

Above all, Steven was a people person. His generosity knew no bounds, and he lived by the principle that what was his was also theirs. He cherished catching up with his brothers over lunch and was the driving force behind family reunions, always encouraging attendance. Steven loved taking trips with his family and visiting them whenever he could. His presence at these gatherings was a source of joy and unity.

Steven will be remembered as a generous family man with a heart as big as his personality and the memories he created will forever be treasured.
