Tara Schayne Cole — O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Cole-Tara

Tara Schayne Cole, 49, of Quincy, passed away at 11:05am Friday, September 20, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Born on December 30, 1974, in Los Gatos, CA, Tara’s life was full of love, dedication, and joy that touched everyone she knew. Tara was the daughter of Bill and Vicki (Nutt) Cole. She lived in California for 20 years before moving to Quincy, IL in 1994.

Tara’s professional life was marked by her compassionate nature, which led her to a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) after graduating from John Wood Community College and as a receptionist for many years after graduating from Vatterott College. Her caring touch and warm smile were a source of comfort to many during her time as a Can at various nursing homes and receptionist at PCCW Teleservices formerly known as Influent Inc. She also was a waitress at various restaurants.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Tara was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as coloring and crafting with her grandchildren, and engaging in card games like Remy with her daughter. As an avid reader, Tara often found solace in the pages of her Bible and the Danielle Steel novels. She cherished the moments spent reading to her grandchildren, instilling in them the love of stories and imagination.

Tara’s love for sports was evident in her support for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Steelers, and the 49ers, and she enthusiastically participated in football drafts. Road trips to Springfield with her daughter and tranquil retreats to the family Cabin in Macomb, IL and the farms that her family owned were sources of peace and happiness for Tara.

Above all, Tara will be remembered for her giving spirit. She was a person who always put others before herself, offering help and support wherever it was needed. Her selflessness and kindness were the hallmarks of her character, and these qualities have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.

Her legacy continues through her two beloved daughters, Lindsay Parson (Levi) and Kylie Cole of Quincy, IL, and her adored grandchildren, Olivia Altgilbers (age 6) and Dominic Parson (age 11), who brought immense joy and laughter into her life.

Her absence will also be deeply felt by her father, Bill Cole of Canton, MO; her sisters, Melissa Taylor (Donald) of Marina, CA and Chevi Amrein (Todd) of Susanville, CA; her brother, Billy Cole of Quincy, IL; her significant other of 30 years, Matt Blevins; and her many loving nieces and nephews.

Tara was preceded in death by her mother, Vicki, along with many cherished aunts and uncles, and her beloved dog, Bailey.

A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL. There will be a reception following the service at South Side Boat Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to O’Donnell-Cookson to help the family with final expenses.
