Thomas J. Schutte – Duker & Haugh

Thomas J. Schutte, age 84, of Quincy, died on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Iowa City, IA. He was born on May 11, 1940 in Quincy, the son of Rome and Marge (Wilson) Schutte. Tom was a graduate of Camp Point High School. He married Judi Willer on October 26, 1974. She survives. Tom worked for BNSF Railroad for over 36 years.
He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hallmark Company that was sent to serve in Vietnam. Tom was a strong Quincy Notre Dame High School fan and volunteer. He was inducted into the Quincy Notre Dame Hall of Fame in 2016. Tom always loved attending and watching his families sporting activities, extending out to nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his wife, Tom is also survived by:
TWO SONS: Eric Schutte of O’Fallon, IL and Shane Schutte along with his fiancé Amanda Cannon and her children Devon and Aiden Cannon.
SIBLINGS: Jim Schutte with his wife Marcia and Sherry Willis with her husband Roger.
Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 Am in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #37 and the United States Army Honor Detail. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight Program. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
