Tommy Hatton House, age 77, of Quincy, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 12:48 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Tommy was born April 12, 1946 in DeQueen, Arkansas, the son of Walter Lee Sr. and Ruth Martin House. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Goodson, on May 21, 1967 in Texarkana, TX. She survives.

Tommy grew up in Texarkana, TX, and graduated from Texas High School in 1964. He went on to attain his Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas in Arlington, TX. Together, Tommy and Betty raised two children in Rowlett, TX. There, the Houses were active members of First United Methodist Church. Tommy worked eight years at Continental Emsco. He later worked many years at E-Systems / Raytheon until his retirement in 2008. The couple relocated to Quincy in 2014. They are active members at Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

In his younger years, Tommy enjoyed boating and fishing. He also loved working on and restoring classic cars. He dabbled in electronics and had an eclectic taste in music. He was also an amateur photographer in his spare time. Tommy was known to be a bit of a character. His dry sense of humor and wit, and his ability to surprise you with it out of nowhere was one of his defining characteristics. However, above all, Tommy was a family man. He had a fierce love for his children and grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Betty, include: two children, Chris (Frankie) House of Denton, TX, and Kelli (Bryan) Langston of Quincy; four grandchildren, Ethan House of McKinney, TX, Emma House of McKinney, TX, Benjamin Langston of Quincy, and Maxwell Langston, of Quincy; three bonus grandchildren, Gavin and Cooper Emerson of Denton, TX, and Brittany (Billy) Cameron of Gainesville, TX; a great grandson, Cody Cameron of Gainesville, TX; a brother Walter “Ozzie” (Jerry) House Jr. of Texarkana, TX; many special nieces and nephews; and his very special “Framily”, the Lee and the Jones Families.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.
