Barry man arrested by Pike County Sheriff’s Department for failing to register as sex offender

BARRY, Ill. — Terrell W. Bell, 49, of Barry was arrested June 26 by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department on a Pike County warrant for the offense of failure to register as a sex offender.  

Bell was arrested and later released after posting bond.  

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department currently monitors 57 registered adult sex offenders.  Sheriff David Greenwood said that number does not include juvenile sex offenders and/or murderer/violent offender against youth offenders.  

“The Pike County Sheriff’s Department is very proactive when it comes to monitoring registered sex offenders and making sure offenders are compliant,” Greenwood said in a press release.  

Since Greenwood was elected, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department has made more than 50 arrests relating to the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act since Greenwood was elected.
