Barry man faces multiple charges after traffic stop Monday in Pike County
BARRY, Ill. — A Barry man faces multiple charges after a traffic stop Monday morning.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department, while working for the Village of Hull, conducted a traffic stop on McCraney Creek Road, approximately a half-mile north of Illinois 106, at 7:28 a.m. on a tan colored 1995 Buick passenger car.
Subsequent to an investigation, the driver, James A. Kurtz, 41, of Barry was arrested on the following charges:
- Unlawful possession of methamphetamine less than five grams;
- Unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes;
- Driving under the unfluence (any amount of drug);
- Unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle;
- Improper use of turn signal;
- Pike County, Illinois, warrant for petition for revocation of probation;
- Pike County, Illinois, warrant for failure to appear.
Kurtz is lodged in the Pike County Jail. The incident remains under investigation and further arrests are likely.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Illinois State Police.
