DALLAS CITY, Ill. — A Dallas City man was arrested Sunday and faces several charges after crashing his vehicle into a stop sign.

Deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department were called to 591 W. Second in Dallas City after an Illinois Conservation police officer saw a 1999 red Ford Explorer strike a stop sign at Third and Cherry. The driver continued to a residence at 591 W. Second, exited the car, failed to stop for the conservation officer, went inside and locked the door.

A deputy made contact with the driver, Gary P. Anderson, 57. Anderson was identified by the Conservation officer as the driver. Anderson was intoxicated, placed under arrest and transported to the Hancock County Jail. He has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash and driving while license revoked.

Anderson later appeared in court, where his bond was set at $100,000.
