Early-morning traffic stop leads to methamphetamine arrest

HAMILTON, Ill. — A traffic stop at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday led to an arrest of man now changed with possession of less than five grames of methamphetamine.

A Hancock County sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Hamilton stopped a 2004 Chevrolet truck for a traffic violation. The driver was on a trip from Jefferson City, Mo., to Chicago. The sheriff’s office canine was called to the scene and positively alerted on the truck.

The driver, Jerry W. Husketh, 65, of Tuscumbia, Mo., was found to have methamphetamine on his person. A small amount of cannabis also was found inside the truck.

Husketh was transported to the Hancock County Jail. He was released on his own recognizance on Thursday by the court.
