Hamilton woman arrested for possession of meth after traffic stop in Carthage
CARTHAGE, Ill. — A traffic stop in Carthage turned into a methamphetamine-related arrest.
A deputy from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department made a traffic stop at 12:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13 on a 2013 white Land Rover on Buchanan Street at Washington Street in Carthage for a traffic violation.
The driver, Brooke K. Leffler, 32, of Hamilton was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. A sheriff’s office canine had alerted on the vehicle. The subsequent search of the vehicle yielded two grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Leffler’s purse.
Leffler was transported to the Hancock County Jail, where she was charged with possession of methamphetamine (less than five grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
