Hannibal woman in jail after allegedly selling items across country on Facebook but never sending product

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal woman is in the Marion County Jail and faces charges of deceptive business practices and stealing.

Detectives with the Hannibal Police Department went to a residence on Homestead on May 19 and arrested Amanda L. Stuart, 40. Stuart had multiple warrants issued by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County. 

Detectives began an investigation involving Stuart approximately nine months ago. They received a complaint from an individual living in the state of Louisiana who indicated Stuart was selling items on Facebook and never sending the product after the payment was made. After an extensive investigation, detectives had located more than 30 victims across the county. 

Stuart was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing. Her bond was set at $25,000.
