HPD makes arrest after structure fire

HANNIBAL, Mo. — On Thursday, just after 9 a.m., Hannibal Police resonded to the 900 block of Fulton to assist the Hannibal Fire Department with a structure fire.

Detectives responded to the scene and began working with the Missouri State Fire Marshal and Hannibal Fire Investigator. As a result of the joint investigation, the fire was determined to be arson and a person of interest was identified.

Cheyenne R. Voelkel, 23, Hannibal, was arrested and placed on a twenty-four hour hold in the Marion County Jail. A warrant was later issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Voelkel with Arson 2nd Degree with bond set at $50,000.

Voelkel remains lodged in the Marion County Jail.
