Iowa woman charged with possession of controlled substance after Tuesday traffic stop
CARTHAGE, Ill. — A traffic stop early Tuesday morning led to the arrest of an Iowa woman, who has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
A deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday on County Road 1000 East at Ill. 96 on a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver, Emily A. Cox, 26, of Fort Madison, Iowa, was discovered to be driving on a suspended driver’s license.
Cox was placed under arrest. During a search, a clear plastic baggie containing pills was in Cox’s pants pocket. The pills were identified and are suspected to be oxycodone.
Cox was transported to and lodged in the Hancock County Jail where she awaits an initial court appearance.
