Liberty teen airlifted to St. Louis following ATV accident

LIBERTY, Ill. — Just after 8 p.m. Thursday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a multiple motor vehicle accident involving all-terrain vehicles near Liberty.

It was reported multiple ATVs were riding on the rural roads in the Liberty area before the accident. Two of the ATVs were involved in a collision when one ATV came over a hill on a gravel road and the other was stopped at the bottom. One ATV struck the rear of the other, throwing off both operators. 

Both operators were 16 years old. One of the teenagers did not receive any injuries, The other teenager was transported by Air Evac to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis for major injuries.

Three juveniles were cited for improper operation of an ATV.
