NEW CANTON, Ill. — A New Canton man is in the Pike County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender and other charges.

Deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department initiated an investigation on April 4 in Barry, going to the sex offender’s registered address and discovering the sex offender no longer resided there.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department then applied for and received a warrant for the arrest of Devon L. Wagner. Deputies found Wagner on May 7 in the 200 block of Pleasant Vale in New Canton. He was taken into custody without incident.

Wagner also had a second Pike County, Ill., warrant for failure to appear on charges of burglary, felony theft, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and obstructing justice.
