Pike County Sheriff’s Department asking for help in vehicle thefts
QUINCY — The Pike County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the thefts of vehicles in Pike County.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department was contacted at approximately 7:49 a.m. Thursday regarding a white 2018 Ford F-150 Pickup Truck that was stolen from the 1000 block of Decatur in Barry. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that suspects also got into another vehicle and rifled through it, along with entering a closed garage.
While investigating this theft, deputies came upon a black Honda Sport Utility Vehicle parked near the Barry swimming pool was reported as being stolen from Hannibal, Mo., earlier in the morning.
During the investigation, deputies discovered the location of the F-150 in Hannibal.
Pike County investigators contacted the Hannibal Police Department, who went to the location reported and located the F-150. The vehicle was processed by Hannibal Police Department Crime Scene Investigators and returned to the owner.

“I know we live mostly in small towns and rural areas here in Pike County, but always lock the doors of your vehicles, remove your keys or key fobs from your vehicle and do not leave valuables in them.” Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood said in aa press release. “These crimes are crimes of opportunity where criminals go from car to car, pulling on door handles until they find one that is open.”
The Hannibal Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations assisted in the investigation.
