Pleasant Hill man flees on minibike, then faces multiple charges after authorities chase him down

PLEASANT HILL, Ill. — A Pleasant Hill man is in the Pike County Jail after he was captured by members of the Pleasant Hill Police Department and Pike County Sheriff’s Department on Friday after a chase on a minibike.

The Pleasant Hill Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop at 5:19 p.m. April 22 on a red and black Baja Warrior 200cc minibike on Brant Street in Pleasant Hill. The driver was identified as Darryl Wayne Bequette Jr., 34, of Pleasant Hill. Bequette, who had warrants out of both Pike and Calhoun counties, fled from law enforcement by driving through residential yards and on top of the levee.  

Law enforcement tracked Bequette to a wooded area south of the Pleasant Hill Grade School. He eventually was taken into custody and charged with:

• Aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude (2 or more traffic control devices),
• Driving while license suspended,
• Operating an uninsured motor vehicle,
• No valid registration,
• Reckless driving, 
• Eight counts of disobeying a traffic control device,
• Operation of an off-highway motorcycle in a careless manner,
• Operation of non-highway vehicles on roadway,
• Calhoun County warrant for failure to pay fine
• Pike County, Ill., warrant for failure to appear at arraignment on charges of gift or sale of liquor to a minor, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended.
