Pontoosuc woman faces multiple charges after ATV crash
PONTOOSUC, Ill. — A Pontoosuc woman faces several charges after she was involved in an ATV crash.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an ATV crash at 4:03 p.m. Monday at Third and Mercer in Pontoosuc. Ambulances from Nauvoo and Lomax also were dispatched. Deputies learned that Michelle M. Olson-Ruiz, 52, of Pontoosuc was driving a 2015 CanAm Commander on Third Street and failed to negotiate the intersection with Mercer Street because of high speed.
Olson-Ruiz was found to be intoxicated. She was transported to Fort Madison (Iowa) Community Hospital by the Nauvoo ambulance. Olson-Ruiz has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, operation of an ATV on a road and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
Olson-Ruitz was left in the care of the hospital.
