Quincy man gets 15 years in DOC after being found guilty of shooting female in chest

QUINCY — Tristian L. Johnson of Quincy was sentenced on Feb. 18 to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Amy Lannerd in Adams County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to home invasion while armed with a deadly weapon.

Quincy Police department Officers responded on Sept. 21, 2020, to a residence on N. Eighth after a female victim called 911. Responding officers found a female victim who had been shot in the chest. She was transported to Blessing Hospital.

The female victim survived her injury and later reported two males forcibly entered her residence and began physically assaulting her.  One male then shot her in the chest, and both males then fled the residence. A subsequent investigation identified one of those males as Johnson, who was ultimately arrested and lodged. 

Johnson originally pled not guilty and was held in the Adams County Jail on a $2 million bond. He waived his right to a trial on Jan. 28.

The investigation continues with respect to identification of the second suspect.
