QUINCY — Samuel Kenwick of Quincy was sentenced March 4 by Judge Amy Lannerd in Adams County Circuit Court to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery.

Officers with the Quincy Police Department responded to Mercantile Bank, 440 Maine, at 1:16 p.m. Aug. 31 for a reported robbery. A single male suspect had fled the bank heading north on a motorized bicycle with U.S. currency after committing the robbery.

Later that day at 3:33 p.m., officers located a male subject fitting the description of the bank robbery suspect at 18th and Broadway.  He was detained at that time and identified as Kenwick, 40. A subsequent investigation led to Kenwick’s arrest for the robbery.  Some of the stolen U.S. currency was discovered with Kenwick, and the rest was recovered after a search of Kenwick’s residence.
