Quincy Police Department hires two officers

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department has hired two officers who will start attending the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center Academy from Aug. 10 to Nov. 19.

Richard Peat from Fenton, Mo., attended Quincy University for the last four years and recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Peat, 22, completed an internship with QPD while attending QU. He enjoys basketball, weightlifting and cooking.  

Eric Nielsen is originally from Bloomington but has lived in Quincy for the past 10 years while working as a paramedic with the Adams County Ambulance Service.  He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Nielson, 30, is married and has children. He enjoys spending time with family, traveling and following the St. Louis Cardinals.
