HANNIBAL, Mo. — A St. Louis woman is in the Marion County Jail after she allegedly stole a car and an iPhone, then later headbutted an officer with the Hannibal Police Department when she was arrested.

The 10th Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant Saturday for Zyiah D. Wooten, 18 of St. Louis, for tampering with a motor vehicle and assault. The charges were from an incident that HPD officers investigated on Friday,

At approximately 2:14 p.m., a woman reported her vehicle, purse, and keys had been stolen while she was inside a business in the 300 block of Broadway. It is believed Wooten had been in the business prior to the theft. A description of Wooten and the stolen vehicle was given to surrounding agencies.

Deputies with the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department located the stolen vehicle abandoned on Missouri Route 79, just south of Continental Cement. About an hour later, a Hannibal off-duty officer saw Wooten in the 1200 block of Broadway. Hannibal officers contacted Wooten, and while she was taken into custody, she headbutted an officer.

Personal items and vehicle keys belonging to the victim was located in Wooten’s possession. Wooten also was in possession of a stolen iPhone from the Hannibal Wal-Mart. The officer did not require medical treatment from the assault.

Wooten’s bond was set at $25,000.
