Student removed from school after female assaulted in bathroom at QHS

QUINCY — A student was removed from school Wednesday after a female student was assaulted and injured in a restroom at Quincy High School.

Quincy police officers responded to the scene on Wednesday. Sgt. Mark Folkenroth said a preliminary report was sent to the Adams County State’s Attorney’s office.

Roy Webb, superintendent for Quincy Public Schools, wrote in a statement posted on his personal Instagram page that the incident involved two students, with one of them suffering minor injuries. He didn’t offer any details because an investigation is ongoing and both students involved were minors.

“We are taking this situation very seriously,” Webb wrote. “We are diligent about security and supervision at QHS. We continue to follow our safety plan to monitor hallways, bathrooms and other areas, and student safety is our primary mission.

“We remain vigilant, and we are confident that our supervision and safety plan keeps QHS a safe place for all students and staff. This is a very rare occurrence at any of our schools.”

Webb noted that employees at QHS responded quickly and prevented “what could have been a more serious incident.”
