Three arrests in Hancock County also involve seizure of firearms

CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department made three arrests last week which involved a seizure of firearms.

A sheriff’s deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop at approximately 2:51 a.m. May 19 on a 2007 GMC truck for expired registration. The driver, Lance D. Hocker, 26, of Fort Madison, Iowa, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. A 9mm Beretta pistol was located in the truck. Hocker was subsequently charged with unlawful use of a weapon. 

The sheriff’s office received a call at approximately 5:42 p.m. May 20 in reference to a domestic disturbance on County Road 1100E near County Road 800N. Deputies responded and were advised a male subject had left the scene in a 2008 Chevrolet truck. The male, identified as Brandon L. Bough, 29 of Basco, also allegedly had four children, ranging from 16 months old to 11 years old, in the truck with him when he left.

Deputies located Bough, and he was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. A Hi-Point 9mm pistol was discovered inside the truck, and Bough subsequently was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. The children were taken into custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

The sheriff’s office received at 10:53 p.m. May 21 a report of a missing juvenile from Hamilton. The juvenile was discovered at approximately 4:32 a.m. May 22 at a residence near Nauvoo. The juvenile was in the company of Niccolo L. Moylan, 19, of Burlington, Iowa. Moylan was in possession of a Springfield 9mm pistol and subsequently was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The juvenile was returned home safely.
