Two Fort Madison teens arrested after investigation of burglaries in Niota

NIOTA, Ill. — Two Iowa teenagers were arrested and face multiple counts of burglary as they are held in the Hancock County Jail.

Hancock County Sheriff Travis Duffy reports his office received numerous reports on Saturday of vehicles and garages having been burglarized overnight in Niota. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to take each report and conduct an investigation, which led to the arrest of men. 

Jakob L Corral, 18, and Elie M. Ahlen, 18, both of Fort Madison, Iowa, were found in possession of several of the stolen items and subsequently arrested. Deputies recovered most of the stolen items in two locations in the Niota area. 

Ahlen and Corral were transported to the jail, where they were held on multiple counts of burglary. Both await their initial court appearnce where bond will be set.
