Warsaw man in Hancock County Jail, facing weapons, drug charges
WARSAW, Ill. — A Warsaw man is in the Hancock County Jail after a traffic stop led to an arrest on multiple charges.
A deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department stopped a blue 2005 Chrysler at approximately 4:30 p.m. May 12 on U.S. 136 near County Road 1600 E. A passenger, Sean T. A. Nelson, 24, of Warsaw, had a warrant for his arrest through Hancock County for failing to appear on a a charge of no valid driver’s license.
A bag belonging to Nelson was searched. The following items were discovered inside the bag:
- .22 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with serial number defaced
- 1.3 grams of methamphetamine
- Glass smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue
- 55.2 grams of cannabis
Nelson was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis (over 30 grams), armed violence and defacing identification marks of a firearm.
