Quincy man arrested for setting fire to the apartment building where he lived

QUINCY — Quincy Police have arrested a man they believe set fire to the apartment complex where he was living.

Just after 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, Quincy Police Officers, along with the Quincy Fire Department and Adams County Ambulance Service, responded to the report of a structure fire at 718 Kentucky. When officers arrived they discovered a five apartment dwelling was on fire. Officers evacuated the residents from the building and the fire was extinguished. There were no immediate injuries from the fire.

One of the residents, Joseph Lindsay, 25, who was not on scene at the time of the fire, was believed to be a suspect. The fire scene was processed by QPD detectives and evidence was gathered to be analyzed.

An arrest warrant for Aggravated Arson was issued for Lindsay Dec. 7 and he was arrested Tuesday.

Lindsay is lodged in the Adams County Jail.
