Bally’s Gets the Greenlight for Chicago Casino Project

Casino and hotel giant is going to get a whole lot bigger. Recently, Bally’s got the green light to proceed with its Chicago casino project. Chicago’s municipal Department of City and Planning approved Bally’s plans to build a deluxe casino resort in downtown Chicago.

The new Bally’s Casino is taking over the 30-acre lot where the historic Chicago Tribune printing department once filled. The Chicago Tribune, like most legacy media, is gradually phasing out its printing press operations and focusing on the digital market.

The new Bally’s location comes after the decision to relocate last summer. The original Bally’s Chicago casino hotel location was pitched at the northern part of the 30-acre lot. However, after further inspection, Bally decided to concentrate on moving the hotel tower of the casino to the southern end adorned by the Chicago River, to avoid interfering with other critical infrastructure.

The new Bally’s hotel tower is supposed to have 500 deluxe rooms with 34 floors. The Bally’s Corp, located in Rhode Island Providence, works in tandem with Wyomissing, a Gaming and Leisure company in Pennsylvania.

The proposed Chicago land based casino project is estimated to be $2 billion. Tasked with building the new Chicago River casino falls under the purview of the Chicago Community Builders Collective. The CCBC is minority-owned, so this could be an incredible job-creation tool for other minority groups. Other contractors associated with the Chicago Community Builders Collective are Powers and Sons Construction and Gilbane Building Co., to name a few.

At the time of this article, the demolition process of the old Chicago Tribune building is underway and almost complete. Besides the new Chicago-area casino, Bally’s is a giant in the retail and online gambling industries. Bally’s signature retail casino is located in the heart of the Atlantic City Beach Boardwalk.

Bally’s also has an online presence in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are the two top American online casino destinations. Both generate billions in online gambling revenue, including sports betting. Bally’s also is the proprietary software for many of its retail and online casino games.
