JWCC Business and Industry Training offering three leadership classes this spring

QUINCY — John Wood Community College Business and Industry Training is offering a series of three classes focusing on characteristics of effective leaders, ethics, service and leadership and communication skills — with special emphasis on listening and engaging with others effectively.

All classes are open to the public, and no application is necessary. Reservations are required. The classes will be at JWCC’s Workforce Development Center, 2710 N. 42nd.

“Become the Leader Others Want to Follow” focuses on the practical aspects of self-evaluation and leadership growth. Attendees learn how to evaluate and recognize servant leadership, engage in effective listening and interaction and learn leadership traits effective leaders have. This class will be on March 9 from 8 a.m to noon.

“Leading From the Front” focuses on personal development practices and leadership growth. Attendees learn how to identify the value and practices of personal goal setting and evaluation of their leadership. Additionally, they learn to be motivational and create an environment of teamwork. This class will be on April 13 from 8 a.m-noon.

“Leading to Create Other Leaders” focuses on the practical aspects of delegating and setting accountability in other leaders and encourages leadership growth. Attendees learn how to have relatable development conversations and set responsibilities by engaging in “Ownership Mindset.” This class will be May 11 from 8 a.m.-noon.

The cost of each course is $85 per person. There is a discounted rate of $65 per person if individuals enroll in all three classes before the first class. Students should register a minimum of two business days before the class. Rich Ellerman with Ellerman Consulting and Marketing will teach the courses.
