Knapheide Manufacturing Company to display heritage vehicles in Dogwood Parade

QUINCY — To celebrate its 175th anniversary, the Knapheide Manufacturing Company will display its lineup of three heritage vehicles in its Dogwood Parade float. The parade will begin at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at 24th and Maine and proceed down Maine to Sixth.

The Knapheide float will incorporate:

• Knapheide Wagon — An original, early-1900s Knapheide wagon with original paint, the oldest Knapheide heritage vehicle.
• 1924 Ford Model TT with Model 10 grain body — While the cab of this vehicle is original, the bed and sides of the grain body recently were rebuilt by employees based on advertisements and photos from that period.
• 1955 Chevy 6400 with 12’ steel grain body — The 12-foot steel gain body was upfit on the chassis by Bert’s Truck Equipment, a Knapheide distributor, when the vehicle was new. The upfit is on loan from Wayne Gregoire, owner of Bert’s Truck Equipment, who bought it years ago from the original owner.
• 1971 Chevy C10 with 8-foot service body — Knapheide engineers used original, hand-drawn prints from the 1970s to recreate the plans used by current and retired Knapheide employees to build the body from scratch.
