QUINCY — Representatives from Quincy Montessori School were awarded a $3,000 Kunes Foundation grant on Aug. 12 at Kunes Honda.

The funds will be shared between each of the school’s classes for a variety of needs. Lisa Sutton, secondary teacher, says she plans to implement a coding and robotics initiative with her students as well as cooking lessons. The funding also will cover microscope slides and wooden puzzles related to the solar system and moon phases.

Primary teachers Mackenzie Kammerer and Jessica Pittman plan to purchase a geography and reading program known as the Waseca Curriculum set which is structured to provide a systematic and sequential presentation of the phonetic elements used in the English language.

Quincy Montessori School, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides accessible and affordable Montessori-based education.
