On Wednesday, November 24, the Quincy Police Department will host the sixth annual Quincy
Cops Care Food Drive.

The idea behind this program is to bring non-perishable food items to families in need that may not have an opportunity to visit one of our local food pantries. Our hope is for everyone to have the opportunity to share a Thanksgiving meal with friends and family.

Distribution times are as follows:

  • Quincy Housing Authority, 540 Harrison – 11:00 AM.
  • Fredrick Ball, 820 North 8th – 12:00 PM
  • Lampe Hi-Rise, 527 Broadway – 1:00 PM

All times are estimates, subject to need and availability. It is not a requirement that you be a
resident of the Quincy Housing Authority to participate.

There will be a total of 200 pre-packed bags of groceries available for distribution. Each bag
contains: mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, yams, marshmallows, pumpkin pie
filling and a pie crust.

Red Cactus Salsa has partnered with QPD this year to provide meat department vouchers redeemable at both the Harrison and Broadway Hy-Vee stores. Additional food items may be available.

This year’s event is made possible by generous donations from the members of the Quincy
Police Department,We in Quincy, IL, Back the Blue, Vancil Performing Arts Center, Red
Cactus Salsa, Harrison Hy-Vee, Broadway Hy-Vee, Ursa Christian Church, the local biker
community, South Side Boat Club’s Hunting Widows, and the Unity High School Student
Council.

This year’s event will feature the return of Joe “Cowboy” Lord and his wife Angie.
Cowboy is responsible for starting this food drive in 2015.
