Two Quincy teachers recognized as McDonald’s outstanding educators

QUINCY — McDonald’s of Quincy director of operations Ashley Orscheln recently recognized Autumn Lomax from Quincy Junior High School and Trudy Willis from Baldwin Elementary School for being selected as McDonald’s Outstanding Educator award recipients. 

Local McDonald’s restaurants started this award program three years ago as a way to celebrate area teachers and honor them for exhibiting dedication to their students and contributing to the improvement of education. Since launching this award program, locally owned McDonald’s restaurants have given more than $37,000 in cash and prizes to 185 educators across local communities.

Community members were invited to submit nominations online. Lomax and Willis were selected from a pool of more than 500 nominations. 

In a press release, Orscheln said, “Our local educators are the definition of perseverance and loyalty. They show up and give their all day after day to make sure our students thrive. Both Autumn and Trudy are so deserving of this award, and it was an honor to recognize them for all they do.” 

Winners of the outstanding educator award each receive a $100 Visa gift card to use toward their classroom; a coffee mug; certificates and McDonald’s coupons to provide to parents with outstanding students throughout the year. Local McDonald’s restaurants also award one educator a $1,000 Visa gift card.
