2025 St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1-2

St. Jude run

QUINCY — The St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run could hit a major milestone during its 21st annual fundraiser: an overall $2 million in donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since the run’s inception in 2005.

The 2025 run includes about 85 runners and volunteers who will hit the pavement starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Quincy. They’ll run relay-style for 24 hours and 135 miles until they arrive in Peoria on Saturday. They run regardless of sweltering heat or torrential rains – all to support the kids and families of St. Jude who are navigating their darkest hours.

Each participant raises at least $1,000 to participate.

In its first 20 years, the run raised $1,895,547. Last year’s donation was $136,000. Because of generous sponsors, 100% of funds raised by runners and volunteers go directly to St. Jude.

To help the St, Jude Quincy to Peoria Run surpass the $2 million goal, you can donate here –https://stjuderuns.org/runs/satellite/quincy – or come see the runners off on Friday.

  • About 1:30 p.m.: Runners from Hannibal, Mo., arrive in Quincy
  • 2 p.m.: Send-off ceremony

About the St. Jude Quincy to Peoria Run

The Quincy run was founded in 2005 as a satellite run supporting the larger St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Run. The Memphis run began in 1982 in Memphis, Tenn., where St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is located. Peoria is home to one of several St. Jude satellite hospitals.

Quincy is now one of 36 satellite runs based in Illinois and Missouri that end at the Peoria Civic Center for the annual St. Jude Telethon.

Hannibal extension of the run debuted in 2011.

Every step and every dollar contribute to lifesaving cures, the sharing of groundbreaking research, and the assurance that families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food so they can focus on helping their children live.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962 because “no child should die in the dawn of life,” St. Jude aims to find cures and save children with pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

The organization freely shares its breakthroughs with doctors and scientists worldwide and turns laboratory discoveries into lifesaving treatments.

Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survivor rate from 20% to more than 80% since the hospital opened.

St. Jude provides thousands of free consultations for doctors treating children worldwide, including kids in our communities.

It costs nearly $2 billion to sustain and grow St. Jude each year, with an estimated 89% coming from generous donors and fundraisers like the St. Jude Runs.
