Abe Lincoln festival to be launched in Macomb’s downtown Courthouse Square on Saturday

MACOMB, Ill. — “Unforgettable Forgottonia,” also known as Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will present Macomb’s inaugural Unforgettable Lincoln Day on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the historic downtown Courthouse Square and Chandler Park.

The event will run from 4 to 10:30 p.m. It was designed to coincide with the first weekend of the region’s annual Spoon River Drive to encourage its visitors to consider Macomb, its lodging, its restaurants and its attractions.

Unforgettable Lincoln Day will feature:

  • “selfie” opportunities with the nation’s leading Abraham Lincoln interpreter
  • entertainment from singer/songwriter and roots musician Chris Vallillo
  • Looking For Lincoln’s Illinois Freedom Project display
  • Macomb’s eATLAS powered historic Looking For Lincoln Historic Tour
  • the world’s only living Lincoln Topiary Monument
  • horse drawn trolley rides
  • Civil War reenactors
  • working blacksmith
  • a special “Movie In The Park” featuring Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award winning film “Lincoln”
  • the original play When Macomb Hosted Lincoln: Devising the Freeport Question by Dr. Tim Roberts
  • a months-long Looking For Flat Lincoln scavenger hunt at Macomb’s Hy-Vee grocery store

Macomb’s Looking For Lincoln committee members are Jan Armstrong, John Bannon, Lynne Campbell, Dave Dorsett,John Hallwas, Jock Hedblade, Terra Litchfield, Tim Roberts, Chris Sutton, Chris Vallillo and Don Wynn.
