LIBERTY, Ill. — In conjunction with their 47th annual meeting and banquet held Jan. 28, the Adams County Beef Producers and Beef Auxiliary selected the group’s 2023 Beef Queen and Beef Ambassador.

Andrea Schaffnit was crowned the 2023 Adams County Beef Queen. Schaffnit, 17, is a daughter of Kevin and Nicole Schaffnit. She is involved in Unity High School’s Student Council and Future Business Leaders of America. She is the secretary of Unity’s FFA chapter and the vice-president of the UHS Class of 2024. She enjoys playing volleyball and softball. Outside of school, she is president of the Ursa Willing Workers 4-H Club and vice president of the Adams County 4-H Federation.

Beau Shaffer was crowned the 2023 Adams County Beef Ambassador. Shaffer, 17, is a son of Curtis and Shannon Shaffer. He is a senior at Unity High School. He is an active member of the Unity FFA chapter as well as the Ursa Willing Workers 4-H group. He loves working with and showing cattle, as well as participating in livestock judging events. Outside of school, he spends most of his time working at Farm and Home or helping with the family businesses. After graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in ag business and ag science at a junior college and plans to be a part of the collegiate livestock judging team.

Both Schaffnit and Shaffer will each receive a $1,500 scholarship to the college of their choice.
