Adams County Sheriff’s Office announces numbers for child passenger safety campaign

QUINCY — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office issued two seat belt citations during its Child Passenger Safety Week campaign. Other enforcement was:

  • 1 citation/arrest for driving under the influence of drugs or a combination of drugs,
  • 1 citation for illegal use of an electronic device while driving,
  • 2 citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle,
  • 2 citations for speeding,
  • 1 citation for improper lane usage, and
  • 1 citation for expired registration.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with more than 200 other local law enforcement agencies to increase awareness of proper child safety seat use and encourage all motorists to buckle up. The effort featured high-visibiity enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.

The Child Passenger Safety Week campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
