Liberty student participates in National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C.

BURTON, Ill. — Adams County 4-H member Marissa Mintle traveled March 19 to Washington D.C., as part of the Illinois delegation attending the 2022 National 4-H Conference. Mintle was one of eight youths representing Illinois 4-H.

Mintle participated in conference sessions and listened to government officials. Speakers at the conference included Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and Carrie Castille, director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Mintle was part of a roundtable charged with discussing 4-H outcomes and impacts. The group’s findings were presented to a group of U.S. Representatives.

Mintle, a junior at Liberty High School, has been a member of Burton Flyers 4-H Club since she was 9 years old. She serves on the Illinois 4-H Food Advocacy Team.
