MENDON, Ill. — The Adams County Beef Producers, along with the Adams County Market Animal Sale Committee, will have its 22nd annual market animal sale on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

The evening will begin with a complimentary dinner for buyers, served from 5 p.m. until sale time at 6 p.m. All buyers are asked to register in the sheep barn during this time as well. Dinner, a preview of animals and sale will all take place in the sheep barn.

Potential buyers are encouraged to preview the sale animals and visit with the youth exhibitors to learn about each member and their animal beginning at 5 p.m. The preview hour is a great learning experience for the exhibitors as they visit with you and learn from your experiences.

The market animal sale is conducted on a “premium” basis. The exhibitor retains ownership of the animal and receives a premium for the hard work and time commitment invested in their market animal. They will use that premium and their own savings towards future projects.

After the sale, the buyer will get an invoice of purchases made. Buyers can pay the night of the sale or mail a check to the cashier as soon as feasible after that night. If two or more parties are interested, they are welcome to pool resources and buy animals together. Each party will be responsible for paying their decided share of the animal purchase price. Poultry will be sold from poster displays by the pen. Beef, swine, sheep and goats will be sold by the head.

The youth exhibitors have spent many hours in preparation working with their animals for the show and sale.
