Swink retires from The Men’s Group, which will be discontinued

QUINCY — Hollis (Steve) Swink retired from The Men’s Group on Dec. 18. He has provided partner abuse and domestic violence intervention services for men since 2003.

As a result of his retirement, The Men’s Group is being discontinued. At its fullest, Men’s Groups were located in Springfield, Beardstown, Jacksonville, Pittsfield, Hannibal and its home base in Quincy.

A native of St. Louis, Swink has an undergraduate degree in English literature from Indiana University and a master’s degree in human services from Webster University. He is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Swink arrived in Quincy in 1982 where he began employment with Chaddock. This was followed by several years at Recovery Resources where he was the rehab director and later the clinical director and also where he began his 30-plus years as a professional in the intimate partner abuse field.

He served as an adjunct instructor at Quincy University for 14 years and for four years at Culver-Stockton College. Swink has completed a manuscript titled “A Non-Violent Better Man: A Guide to Ending Intimate Partner Abuse.”
