QUINCY — The Quincy Public Library has partnered with the American Civil Liberties Union Illinois for a program titled, “Vote Your Voice: the ACLU on Using Your Voice to Produce Change.” The program will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the Quincy Public Library, 526 Jersey.

This initiative aims to educate and empower the residents of Quincy on their fundamental right to vote, encouraging active civic participation and reinforcing the importance of individual voices in shaping our democracy.

The program will bring together ACLU representatives and community members for an interactive session focused on the significance of understanding your fundamental rights. The event is open to all, regardless of age, background or political affiliation.

Through this program, the ACLU aims to discuss what it stands for, its recent struggles and how your vote and voice can secure equity. By equipping attendees with knowledge about their rights and the resources that the ACLU provides, QPL hopes to foster a more inclusive and participatory community.

In a press release, QPL executive director Kathleen Helsabeck said, “We are thrilled to partner with the American Civil Liberties Union to present our ‘Vote Your Voice’ program. This program represents our commitment to ensuring that all voices are heard and that we provide a safe space for individuals to find their voice. We encourage the entire community of Quincy to join us and participate in this informative experience.”
