Applications being accepted for Citizen Police Academy class that starts March 1
QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is taking applications for the 10-week Citizen Police Academy class that begins on Wednesday, March 1. The class time is 6-9 p.m., and most classes are held at Quincy City Hall. There is no charge to attend.
Participants will not only learn about all aspects of the Quincy Police Department but also will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. Some of the class topics are K-9 Unit, DUI practical and mock vehicle stops, Emergency Response Team, crime scene investigation and drug enforcement. There is also an optional range day, and class participants can ride along with a QPD officer on patrol.
To be eligible for the course, applicants must be 18 years of age or older, live in Quincy, work or go to school in Quincy, or own property in Quincy.
