Bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster doses to be available Monday at the Adams County Health Department

QUINCY — The Adams County Health Department will be administering bivalent COVID-19 boosters beginning Monday, Sept. 12.

According to the amended emergency use authorizations from the FDA and recommendations from ACIP and CDC, bivalent vaccines can be used as a single booster dose at least two months following a primary series or booster vaccination.

The Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 boosters have been authorized for individuals ages 12 years and
older. The Moderna bivalent COVID-19 boosters have been authorized for individuals ages 18 years
and older. The original monovalent mRNA booster vaccines are no longer authorized for use as boosters in individuals ages 12 years and older.

Community members should note that the Adams County Health Department will not be administering COVID-19 booster vaccines for individuals ages 12 years and older until Monday, Sept. 12, when bivalent COVID-19 vaccine boosters have arrived. Pfizer COVID-19 boosters for children aged 5-11 are still available.

The week of Sept. 12, the Adams County Health Department will hold a Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster clinic on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Adams County Health Department will hold a Moderna bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster clinic on Tuesday and Thursday.

After Sept. 16, the immunization clinic will offer bivalent COVID-19 boosters of both Pfizer and Moderna Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Individuals wishing to receive a booster should bring their insurance cards and photo ID.
