QUINCY — Dr. Umut Gomceli, who specializes in non-invasive cardiology, has joined Blessing Health System and is seeing patients at the Blessing Health Center, 927 Broadway.

Gomceli holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, National Board of Echocardiography, American Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Board of Internal Medicine Cardiovascular Disease.

He completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship and was the chief cardiovascular disease fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in New York. Gomceli completed an internal medicine residency and was chief resident at Bronx Care Health System in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine. He also completed a cardiovascular disease residency at a hospital in his native country of Turkey, where he earned his medical degree.

“Cardiovascular disease, although a preventable disease, is still the most common killer all around the world,” Gomceli said in a press release. “Prevention is possible, especially when patients actively participate in their care. This is a team game, and my primary duty as a non-invasive cardiologist is to have my patients take a primary role in their own care.”

Non-invasive cardiology identifies heart problems without using needles, fluids or other instruments inserted into the body. Instead, non-invasive cardiologists use techniques including nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiac electrophysiology, stress tests, heart monitors and CT scans. Once a non-invasive cardiologist has identified risk factors or existing conditions, they may recommend medication and lifestyle changes to improve a patient’s heart health.
