Career Launch Signing Day on Wednesday to celebrate area’s next career and technical all-stars

QUINCY — Partners on the Adams County Works Career Guidance Team will be the hosts of the Career Launch Signing Day at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 17 in the Quincy Community Theater inside the Oakley Lindsay Center, 300 Civic Center Plaza.

The event celebrates students entering the workforce. It is in partnership with Great River Economic Development Foundation, John Wood Community College and Quincy Area Vocational and Technical Center.

These students chose an in-demand regional career and are being hired by a local employer. At the Career Launch Signing Day, students becoming newly hired employees, along with the companies they work for, will sign an empowering work-ready pledge. Each newly hired student will receive a certificate from the Adams County Works team and partners.

In a press release, JWCC president Bryan Renfro said, “John Wood is honored to partner with GREDF to recognize our students’ accomplishments and to help our local companies hire and retain a strong skilled workforce.”

The event recognizes students entering careers in transportation, distribution and logistics, manufacturing and agriculture. Participating employers are Blessing Health System, Dot Foods, Quincy Medical Group, Sharkey Transportation, United Alloy, Inc. and Wis-Pak Inc., with others joining.
