QUINCY — A Graduate Gemologist diploma from The Gemological Institute of America recently was awarded to Emerald City Jewelers’ Sarah Davis, daughter of Tom and Sheri Busse. Sheri Busse is the owner and founder of Emerald City Jewelers, and Davis has been a lifelong contributor to the success of Emerald City Jewelers.

The GIA’s mission includes maintaining the credibility of trusted gem and jewelry by offering the public the highest possible standards of academics, science and integrity. GIA offers top-of-the-line information and resources through continued education, research laboratory services and instrument development.

Davis learned the GIA International diamond and colored stone grading system, gem identification and grading. The ability to identify synthetics, treatments and simulants as well as to recognize when advanced testing is mandatory. With the material mastered in earning her diploma, Davis can effectively communicate the complexities of diamonds and gemstones to customers, suppliers and vendors.

This accomplishment allows an additional generation of expertise for the future of Emerald City Jewelers.
