Get Talking! to connect more deeply to those around you — and win a $50 gift card

QUINCY — There are very few opportunities in our fast-paced lives when we slow down and connect with those around us. Sharing a meal together is one of them.

Get Talking! is a new initiative in Quincy to help people have more meaningful conversations while dining out.

Eating together is the most reliable way for families, couples and friends to connect and find out what’s going on with each other. In a recent survey, American teens were asked when they were most likely to talk with their parents. Dinner was their top answer.

The project is a collaboration between the Tracy Family Foundation and the Quincy Family YMCA. It is inspired by The Family Dinner Project, which encourages food, fun and conversation about things that matter.

More than 20 participating Quincy restaurants have Get Talking! table tents on their dining tables. The table tents include a QR code that links to questions for families, couples and friends. When participants ask each other the questions and upload a photo or video to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #gettalkingquincy, they will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $50 gift card. The social media post must be viewable to the public. Participants are eligible to win multiple times through the end of 2023.
