QUINCY — The Golden K Kiwanis Club of Quincy presented grants from the second annual Golden K Kiwanis golf scramble to the JWCC Foundation and Horizons Food Pantry.

The golf grand prize winner, Josh Welker, chose JWCC Foundation to receive a $500 grant. The grand prize winner is chosen at random from all participating golfers. A 50/50 raffle was held at the golf scramble in honor of deceased member, Mike Foster, with all proceeds going to Horizons Food Pantry. A total of $600 was collected, and the Western Catholic Union Quincy branch awarded a matching fund award of $500, making a total $1,100 donation to Horizons Food Panty. All proceeds from the golf scramble will be awarded in the form of grants to local children’s charities in the coming months.

Golden K Kiwanis meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Quincy Senior Center, Sixth and York. The mission of Golden K is to serve the children of the world, starting with our local community.

Throughout the year, Golden K has supported these children’s charities:

  • Quincy Family and Children’s Resource Center,
  • Bella Ease-Teen Reach,
  • Gardner Camp,
  • Quincy Montessori School,
  • Ulmus Academy,
  • Quincy Public Schools.

Golden K also sponsors the Builder’s Club at Blessed Sacrament School and Sewessentials free sewing lessons for children at the Quincy Town Center.
