Gem City Breakfast Kiwanis annual Peanut Day set for Sept. 2
QUINCY — The Gem City Kiwanis Club will hold its annual Peanut Day fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 2. This fundraiser allows community members to donate to Breakfast Kiwanis to support local agencies and organizations in the Quincy area.
Members of the club, wearing distinctive vests, will be standing at the entrances to various businesses throughout the day, collecting donations and giving out small bags of peanuts as a thank you for the donations. Any size donation is welcome and accepted. The club also accepts donations online at gemcitybreakfastkiwanis.com, through Venmo or by sending a check to Gem City Kiwanis Foundation – Peanut Fundraiser. Checks should be mailed to Gem City Kiwanis, P.O. Box 178, Quincy, IL, 62306.
This event is one of three major fundraisers for the Breakfast Kiwanis. The club uses the proceeds from these events to provide grants in the spring for special projects to area organizations, agencies and schools that help children in our community.
“Peanut day is a way for individuals and businesses to help the children by donating monies, no matter what the amount, to the club as we provide grants to child focused projects,” co-chair Fred Nothold said in a press release.
Quincy’s Kiwanis Clubs have raised and given out more than $2 million for kids since the early 1900s.
