League of Women Voters of Adams County to celebrate Women’s Equality Day on Aug. 27

QUINCY — The League of Women Voters of Adams County invites the community to participate in its annual celebration of Women’s Equality Day at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the history museum, 332 Maine.

This event celebrates the anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. The 19th amendment to the Constitution of the United States was certified and the right to vote for women was secured on Aug. 26, 1920.

Quincy school board president Shelley Arns will be the featured speaker with a message titled “Learning and Leading in Today’s Educational World.” Laura Matson also will speak and review how the amendment was passed and the significance of yellow roses.

Light refreshments will be available.
