Lorenzo Bull House to be site of party for Oktoberfest parade on Saturday
QUINCY — Friends of the Lorenzo Bull House and the Quincy Park District will be the hosts of a parade party to celebrate the Oktoberfest parade and field show competition.
The party, free and open to the public, will be from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, on the Lorenzo Bull Park grounds, 1550 Maine.
“The community is invited to enjoy marching bands from three states. Both QHS and QND will be competing. Bring your chairs and support our talented young people,” Dick Wellman, president of Friends of the Lorenzo Bull House, said in a press release.
“A parade party is exactly what it sounds like, a party to watch a parade,” Wellman said. “It’s when a community comes together as one to celebrate with friends and neighbors, while enjoying the beautiful historic architecture at the Lorenzo Bull Park.”
Complimentary popcorn will be provided. The QHS marching band will make a special stop to play for the partygoers.
“This is the first time anything like this has been tried in Quincy,” said Barb Holthaus, vice president of the Quincy Park Board and member of the Friends of the Lorenzo Bull House board. “The Lorenzo Bull Park is uniquely situated on the Maine Street parade route. It’s a natural fit to host a parade party. We’re all hoping Quincy will get behind this new event.”
Friends of the Lorenzo Bull House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded to protect, preserve, promote and restore the Lorenzo Bull House and grounds.
